Established in 2022, the Southern Maine Nurse Honor Guard honors the lives, service, and lasting legacy of nurses who have dedicated their careers to caring for others.
We provide the Nightingale Tribute at funerals, memorial services, and as a living tribute for nurses nearing the end of life. This meaningful ceremony recognizes a nurse's lifelong commitment to the profession and offers comfort, gratitude, and respect to the nurse and their loved ones.
Our ceremonial tribute includes traditional nursing attire, the presentation of a white rose, the Final Roll Call, the ringing of a chime, and the symbolic extinguishing of the Nightingale lamp, signifying a nurse's release from earthly nursing duties.
